When using VMware Workstation to run your virtual machines, one of the nasty annoyances in Windows Vista or Windows Server 2008 is the fact that after each reboot, the Windows Firewall switches the entire machine to the “Public” state because of the virtual adapters created by VMware. In this article, Daniel Petri will show you how to permanently set these virtual adapters to be excluded by the Windows Firewall and Vista’s network awareness API.
